It is tightly linked with the **Breeding plans**, **Mare cycle checks** and embryo tracking, so all data stays connected. ## What a breeding plan is A breeding plan covers one mare for a whole breeding season (a year). It records the chosen stallion, the type of semen, all inseminations, the mare’s cycle checks, any embryos produced and the barrenness certificate if needed. The plan is the central hub that ties together orders, checks and activities for that mare. ## How it works together 1. Open the [Breeding plans](/documentation/breeding-plan-list/) page – pick the years you work with, apply filters or use the search box to see existing plans. 2. Click **Add breeding plan** (visible only with the required rights), fill in mare, year, usage type, stallion, etc., and press **Save**. The new plan appears in the list. 3. Open a plan by clicking its row (or the arrow on mobile) to view the [Breeding plan](/documentation/breeding-plan-details/) page. Here you see the core data and tiles for **Related orders**, **Related mare cycle checks**, **Embryos** (if applicable) and recent breeding activities. 4. In the **Related orders** tile press **Add** to create a semen order for the plan. Enter order details such as agent, usage type, stallion and shipping date, then **Save**. The order is linked and shows in the tile. 5. In the **Related mare cycle checks** tile press **Add** to record a new **Mare cycle check**. Choose the date, pregnancy status, uterus details, eggs, etc., and **Save**. The check is shown on this tile and also appears on the [Mare cycle checks](/documentation/breeding-mare-cycle-check-list/) list. 6. To view or manage all checks, open the [Mare cycle checks](/documentation/breeding-mare-cycle-check-list/) page. Use the **Mare** and **Owner** filters, the **New mare cycle check** button, or the **Print** button to generate a PDF. 7. Click a check row to open its [Mare cycle check](/documentation/breeding-mare-cycle-check-details/) page. From there you can **Edit** (pencil icon) or **Remove** (trash icon). Any change is reflected instantly in the linked breeding plan. 8. The plan overview always stays up‑to‑date because edits or deletions of cycle checks automatically update the breeding plan. ## Good to know - Buttons like **Add breeding plan**, **Add** on tiles and **Edit**/**Remove** on checks appear only when you have the appropriate permissions. - The **Embryos** tile is shown only for plans that use ET or ICSI; otherwise it stays hidden. - The selected years are stored in the URL, so when you return to the list your previous selection is remembered. - Changes made in a mare cycle check are instantly reflected in the associated breeding plan, keeping both screens in sync.
