# Breeding plans

The **Breeding plans** page lists all breeding plans (the covering of a mare for a breeding season) for the years you select. Use it to view, filter, export and manage plans.

## What's on this page
- **Year buttons**: show each available year; click to select a single year, or hold Shift and click to add or remove years. The current year is selected by default.
- **Add breeding plan** button: opens a modal to create a new plan. Visible only if you have permission to manage horses.
- **Export** button: downloads the currently visible rows as an Excel file.
- **Filter** button: opens a dropdown where you can filter by **Usage type**, **Agent / Insemination‑station**, **Status**, **Domestic / Abroad**, and **Semen type**.
- **Search** box: type a plan number, mare, stallion or agent to quickly locate a plan.
- **Breeding plans table**: columns **Mare (Biological)**, **Carrier mare**, **Number**, **Usage type**, **Stallion**, **Last insemination date**, **Status**. Click a row (or the right‑arrow icon on mobile) to open its details.

## Common tasks
### Add a new breeding plan
1. Click the **Add breeding plan** button.
2. Fill in the required fields (mare, year, usage type, stallion, etc.) in the modal.
3. Press **Save** – the new plan appears in the list.

### Find a specific plan
1. Enter the plan number, mare name, stallion or agent in the **Search** box (or apply filters).
2. Adjust the **Year** buttons if needed.
3. Click the matching row to open the plan details.

### Export the current list
1. Apply any filters you need.
2. Click the **Export** button in the filter bar.
3. An Excel file *breeding_plans.xlsx* is saved with the displayed rows.

## Good to know
- The year selection is remembered in the URL, so your chosen years stay selected when you return.
- The **Domestic / Abroad** filter treats a plan as domestic when all owners are in the same country as your organisation; owners without a country are considered domestic.
- The **Add breeding plan** button only appears when you have permission to manage horses.
- If no plans match the filters, the message “No breeding plans found for the selected years” is shown.
